A Lap Around the Azure Services Platform

This is the second session for azure services.

Services are hosted I'm Microsoft data centers.

Based on Internet standards.

Microsoft is keeping platform as open as possible. They are money off utilization not licensing.

Support for multiple platforms (java, ruby, etc)

This PDC is about taking .net to the cloud.

Litware demo:
- Access control
- Showed how one application could use 3 different identity services.
! - "geneva" .net framework for identity.
- access control removes a ton of complexity for user identification.
- geneva is the server that clients could install that allows cloud services to authenticate users against their local identity stores like active directory.

! - Live Mesh Services - will be announced tomorrow.
- live mesh works like outlook security in that other applications would ask for access to your data and you could grant access for a period of time.
- access to data is live. It's not just a snapshot. Updates are immediately available.

SERVICE BUS
Showed demo of litware using service bus. Nothing new from Dublin demo.

Showing off new workflow tech.

You can define workflows and dwploy them to the cloud with 2 clicks.

! - we need to dig into WF. It us becoming more central to the Microsoft architecture.
